Halo: Forward Unto Dawn

Halo: Forward Unto Dawn is an online advertising miniseries of 5 episodes which have been filmed by Microsoft to promote the release of the last part of their acclaimed videogame saga: Halo. I recognize am not a follower of this saga, and I have finished only the first part, I mean, am not much a lover of the Halo universe (although I know the basics about the story and its characters), but on any case, I have to admit that this advertising piece has pleasantly surprised me and I could enjoy it from the begining to the end. The true is that its technical finish and the cinematographic result are well above the usual in this kind of productions, I mean a simple resource of marketing to promote a game, and without forgeting this, we can find a great entertainment wrapped into a first class advertising campaign.

The plot is set around 20 years before the events which we can live into the game of Halo 4, I mean, by one side It uses like a nexus or prologue for the players, but it works as independent viewing as well. The story is starring by Thomas Lasky, member of one of the platoons recruitment of the academy of United Nation Space Command (UNSC) and future commander of the ship Infinity, who will feel inspired through the Master Chief (the enigmatic real protagonist of the saga).

Halo: Forward Unto Dawn es una miniserie publicitaria online de 5 episodios que ha sido rodada por Microsoft de cara a promocionar la salida a la venta de la última parte de su aclamada saga de videojuegos Halo. Yo reconozco que no soy seguidor de la saga, y que solo me pasé su primera parte, es decir no soy muy aficionado al universo Halo (aunque si conozco lo básico acerca de la historia y sus protagonistas), pero en cualquier caso he de admitir que esta pieza publicitaria me ha sorprendido gratamente y he podido disfrutarla de principio a fin. Lo cierto es que su acabado técnico y su resultado cinematográfico esta muy por encima de lo habitual en esta clase de producciones, me refiero a simples medios de marketing para promocionar un juego, y que sin olvidarnos de eso, podemos encontrarnos un estupendo entretenimiento envuelto en una campaña publicitaria de primer nivel.

La historia esta ambientada unos 20 años antes de los acontecimientos que podremos vivir dentro del juego de Halo 4, es decir, que en cierta forma sirve de nexo o prólogo para los jugadores, pero funciona también en su visionado independiente. La historia esta protagonizada por Thomas Lasky, miembro de uno de los pelotones de reclutamiento de una academia de la United Nation Space Command (UNSC) y futuro Comandante de la nave Infinity, quien se vera inspirado por el Jefe Maestro (autentico y enigmático protagonista de la saga).

The Girl in Blue - First Designs

The Girl in Blue is an adventure/fantasy shortfilm on pre-production phase, which I hope filming along 2013 with Pablo Miralles, a ace with who I really want start to work. The plot turn around a little girl who never grow up and stays eternally trapped in a lonely and unknow place where is only live her and a strange creature with who she lives together, called Ecco. Together, they will try to overcome them deeper fears and to face to the infinite loneliness from this desolated lands.

It's about a fiction project, I mean, a real filming with actors, but we will use a mixed technique to add 2D animation on two characters: Ecco and the Beast, of who I leave a few first designs on this post. Only this two charaters are going to be drawed and animated, the rest will be shooting on live with actors...well, mainly with the young actress who will play the main girl role. We wait to release the movie (about 25 minutes aprox.) at ending of 2013, and I promise to upload some stuff more from the production along the next months.

The Girl in Blue es un cortometraje de aventuras y fantasía en fase de preproducción, que espero rodar y acabar a lo largo del 2013 junto con Pablo Miralles, un crack con el que tengo muchas ganas de empezar a trabajar. La historia gira en torno a una niña que no crece jamás, y que permanece eternamente atrapada a un lugar solitario y desconocido en el que solo habita ella junto a una extraña criatura con la que convive, llamada Ecco. Juntos, tratarán de superar sus miedos más profundos y hacer frente a la infinita soledad de estas desoladas tierras.

Se trata de un proyecto de ficción, es decir, rodaje real con actores, pero usaremos una técnica mixta para incorporar animación 2D en dos personajes: Ecco y la Bestia, de los cuales os dejo en esta entrada unos pocos y primeros diseños. Solo estos dos personajes serán dibujados y animados, el resto será rodaje en vivo con actores...bueno, principalmente con la joven actriz que interpretará el papel protagonista de la niña. La película (de aproximadamente unos 25 minutos de duración) esperamos estrenarla a finales de 2013, y prometo ir colgando más cosas sobre su producción en los próximos meses.

Okros Project

Here I leave some character design, concept art and sample panels of a comic project of fantasy, romance and adventures, which plot turn around some characters along four different stories, set on different ages and places, but they always have as a common nexus to Okros, a legendary and mythologic sword, forged from immemorial times and that keeps in her blade the tormented soul of a miserable being, a devil with eternal blood thirst, who will trick and go mad to everyone who take up the sword.

The comic story is based on a short story of my brother (which actually is displayed in the first of the four stories) and have approximately a 140 pages extension (between 30 and 40 pages by part). I have written the full story, but for now only the first story or chapter is drawed and almost finished. I hope to can finish the rest some day and publish them on two volumes (probably on digital format)

Aquí os dejo algún diseño de personaje, arte conceptual y páginas de ejemplo de un proyecto de cómic de fantasía, romanticismo y aventuras, cuya historia gira entorno a varios personajes a lo largo de 4 relatos diferentes, ambientados en distintas épocas y lugares, pero que siempre tendrán como nexo común a Okros, una espada legendaria y mitológica, forjada desde tiempos inmemoriales y que encierra en su hoja el espíritu atormentado de un ser desgraciado, un diablo con eterna sed de sangre, que embaucará y enloquecerá a todo aquel que empuñe la espada.

La historia esta basada en un relato corto de mi hermano (que en realidad es lo que se muestra en el primero de los cuatro relatos) y tiene una extensión aproximada de 140 páginas (entre 30 y 40 páginas por relato). Tengo escrito toda la historia, pero por ahora solo el primer relato esta dibujado y prácticamente acabado, espero poder finalizar el resto algún día y poder publicarlo en dos volúmenes (seguramente en formato digital)
